Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Here

Where is Melancoose?

We’re tucked in the Cornish countryside two miles outside Newquay near Colan Woods/Porth Reservoir. You’ll receive full directions in your booking confirmation.
To reach us, you will need to drive down a single track road for around five  minutes, so be prepared to pull over/or reverse for other cars and the occasional tractor.

How do I get there?

If you’re driving, there’s free on-site parking for up to 10 cars.
The nearest train station is Truro or Bodmin - both around 25 minutes away by car or taxi.
If you’re travelling from further afield, Newquay Airport is a 10 minute drive.

What do I need to bring for the spa?

We require all sauna users to bring two towels - one to dry and one to sit on, this helps keep the sauna hygienic. We have sauna towels to rent if you forget to bring one. Swimwear is mandatory, and flip flops/sliders are highly recommended for walking around the site.

What facilities are on offer?

Our woodland spa comprises: 10 seater woodburning sauna, 8 person woodburning hot tub, cold plunge, cool nature shower, firepit, outdoor relaxation area, two changing rooms with mirrors and hairdryers, plus two separate toilets.

Our barn comprises: large studio with wooden floor, inbuilt speakers and lighting. The Snug sits 10-12 for lunch, with tea making facilities, crockery and cutlery for lunch (no kitchen).

Our pool area comprises: endless pool with video analysis for 1-2-1 swim coaching, changing area and hot shower.

We also have a treatment room available for hire.

How can I hire the venue?

Melancoose is available for hire in two ways:

Woodland spa - hire the whole area for a private wellness experience. We get the fires burning, bring you tea - you just need to bring your towels, swimwear and maybe some snacks.

Barn hire - we offer an hourly/half or full day rental for workshops, retreats, photoshoots or company away days. Email us info@melancoose.com for pricing.

What about the local community?

We are very proud to be part of the Cornish rural business community. We have a quota of studio time available at a heavily discounted rate for community use. Please contact us if you would like to discuss access to this.

What about kids and dogs?

We operate an over 16 policy in the spa. We can only allow dogs on site if by prior agreement by the retreat organiser.

Private Spa Sessions - what time should I arrive?

You can arrive ten minutes before your session, and we ask you to leave maximum ten minutes after the end of your session.

How do I book?

You can book retreats, classes, and treatments directly through our website or by emailing us at info@melancoose.com

Is Melancoose accessible?

The site is built on gravel and although flat is fairly uneven. There are 10/12 steps up to the studio and snug via an external staircase. If you have any access needs, please get in touch before booking so we can plan together.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes — gift vouchers are available year-round and can be used for retreats, treatments, or classes.  Email us to arrange a digital or printed voucher.
